Visit of the Turkmen Delegation to Coventry University: Discussing Prospects for Cooperation

As part of the Turkmen delegation’s visit to the United Kingdom to participate in the meeting of the Joint Turkmen-British Trade and Industrial Council, a meeting was held with the leadership of Coventry University. The discussions focused on expanding academic cooperation, exchanging experiences in higher education, and integrating advanced educational technologies.

The delegation visited Coventry University’s London branch, where they were introduced to the university’s educational programs, which meet the highest international standards. Special attention was given to innovative teaching approaches, the integration of digital technologies into the learning process, and the university’s close collaboration with industry and the business sector.

It is worth recalling that in April 2024, during the visit of the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs to Turkmenistan, education was identified as one of the key areas of bilateral cooperation. During a meeting with the esteemed President of Turkmenistan, prospects for educational partnership were discussed, including the development of targeted educational programs and the expansion of English language learning initiatives.

Subsequently, several video conferences and working meetings were held with representatives of British universities, business circles, and the British Council. These discussions helped to establish a clear understanding of potential areas of cooperation, forming the basis for further dialogue during the current visit to the United Kingdom.

The meeting at Coventry University was a logical step in advancing educational cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom. Representatives of the British university presented initiatives aimed at integrating digital technologies into the educational process and strengthening ties with industry.

Coventry University is ranked among the prestigious international rankings of Times Higher Education and QS Education Ranking, confirming its high academic standing. The university has significant international experience, operating branches in Egypt, Morocco, Poland, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Southeast Asia.

During a meeting with Dr. Joanna Voulgaropoulou, Head of Coventry University’s School of Management in London, discussions focused on cooperation in postgraduate education. The university offers flexible master’s and bachelor’s programs in fields such as marketing, economics, finance, management, and global business. Additionally, the meeting covered the following topics:

• Access for Turkmen students to the university’s international alumni network and educational platform, facilitating communication and learning.

• Support for international students, including English language courses and employment assistance through partnerships with major London companies.

• Master’s programs in fields such as International Marketing, Digital Marketing with Data Analytics, Global Economy, Banking and Finance, and others.

Following the discussions, both parties expressed their interest in continuing the dialogue and organizing expert consultations to further explore possible formats of cooperation. The Turkmen delegation emphasized the importance of studying international best practices in higher education and expressed readiness for further negotiations and knowledge exchange. Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom in the field of education continues to develop, opening new opportunities for integrating Turkmen universities into the global educational landscape.
